Welcome to Dorado
In 1905, Dr. Alfred T. Livingston, a prominent New Yorker, arrived in Dorado with his family, aiming to establish a citrus plantation. Following his passing, the entire estate was bequeathed to his daughter Clara, who promptly assumed control and expanded the property to include a private airport. Clara, a pioneering aviator and close associate of the renowned pilot Amelia Earhart, added a unique dimension to the estate's legacy. Fast forward to 1955, conservationist Laurence S. Rockefeller ventured to Puerto Rico in search of the ideal location for a luxury eco-resort in the Caribbean. Dorado's unspoiled northern coast captivated Rockefeller, becoming the inaugural site for the Dorado Beach Hotel, marking a significant milestone in Caribbean hospitality.
Rockefeller enlisted the expertise of Mr. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. to create an exceptional golfing experience in Dorado, with the goal of embracing golf enthusiasts worldwide. This endeavor culminated in the creation of 2 distinguished golf courses within the expansive 1,400-acre luxury resort.
Today, Dorado Beach stands as a testament to Rockefeller's enduring legacy, vision, and passion, thanks in large part to Mr. Federico M. Stubbe, chairman & founder of PRISA Group. The Stubbe family's commitment to transformation brought the first Ritz Carlton Reserve Resort in the Americas to Dorado Beach, elevating it to a world-class destination synonymous with luxury and unparalleled hospitality.
